Federal Skilled Worker Program
Overview of the program:
The Federal Skilled Worker Program is for foreign nationals who wish to become permanent residents of Canada and who fulfil the following 3 requirements:

1. Work experience in a skilled occupation
2. Language abilities in either English or French
3. Academic credentials of at least a high school education.
Candidates must first meet these minimum requirements for this program in order to be eligible to apply. If an individual meets the minimum requirements, their credentials are assessed against a points system, with the possibility of gaining extra points for age, arranged employment, abilities of a spouse and adaptability factors. A score out of 100 is allocated, with a minimum passing mark of 67. If a score of 67 points is achieved, candidates can submit an application for the Federal Skilled Worker Program by creating a profile and entering the Express Entry pool.
Once a candidate has entered the Express Entry pool they are ranked using a different points system. Click here for more information on the Express Entry Pool and what happens after a profile has been created. As with all immigration programs, applicants must not be inadmissible to Canada.
