Canadian Experience Class

Overview of the program:

The Canadian Experience Class is an immigration program which allows foreign nationals who have work experience in Canada to apply for permanent residence. However, it is not enough to simply have Canadian work experience, there are further mandatory requirements which must be met in order to be eligible for this program. Applicants must fulfil the following 2 requirements: have a minimum of 12 months, full-time (or the equivalent in part-time work), skilled work experience in Canada, and proficiency in either English or French. If a candidate meets these minimum requirements, they can submit an application for the Canadian Experience Class by creating a profile and entering the Express Entry pool. This is a points-based system where applicants are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their skills and abilities, and are ranked against others in the pool. Click here for more information on the Express Entry Pool and what happens after submitting a profile.

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, applicants can also gain points for additional factors such as age, education, an offer of employment, family in Canada, a nomination by a province and the abilities of a spouse or common-law partner. As with all immigration programs, applicants must not be inadmissible to Canada. Click here for more information on potential reasons for inadmissibility and how to overcome them.
